How long does a bespoke suit or jacket take, and why?
A bespoke suit/jacket is not something you order on Monday and wear on Friday. It takes time, usually several weeks, and more than one fitting. That is not a delay. It is the process working as it should.
Here is what actually happens between the first measurement and the finished item.
The first visit
We meet, talk through what you need, choose cloth together and take your measurements. This is where the suit is really decided, long before anything is cut.
The cutting and first construction
Your measurements are used to cut a pattern made for you alone. A suit is then, for the most part, fully constructed and ready for a fitting. However, the suit is not 'finished' at this stage, because the point of the first fitting is to refine it.
The first fitting
We check how it fits and balances against your pattern. Small adjustments (might be) made, and depending on the garment type, there may be more than one fitting. This is the part that off-the-peg and made-to-measure cannot replicate, and it is why bespoke fits the way it does.
The finished garment
Once everything is right, the suit is finished by hand and its yours. Because we visit, the final fitting and delivery happen wherever suits you, not in a shop across town.
Why the time is worth it
A garment made properly holds its shape, wears well and still looks right in years to come. The weeks it takes are the reason it lasts. Buying quickly is how you end up with something you replace. Buying properly is how you end up with something you keep.
